Pizza Dough

Try making more than the obvious pizza using pizza dough such as Stromboli, Calzone, Bread Sticks, Focaccia or Garlic Rolls.


Ingredients make 5 pizzas

4 cups plain white flour (600g)
1 tsp salt
1 sachet dried yeast (7g)
1½ cups lukewarm water (375g)
¼ cup olive oil (60ml)


Method

Place flour, salt and yeast in a mixing bowl and mix evenly. Add lukewarm water and oil, combine to dough. Dust the work surface with flour and turn the dough out. Knead the dough for approx. 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough into a lightly oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Allow resting for 1 hour or until double in size. Turn the dough out on the work surface and divide into five equal pieces. Cover the dough and rest for approx 1 hour. Preheat oven to 250ยบ C normal bake. Roll each dough pieces out to fit an oiled 28 cm (11 inch) pizza tray. Place your favourite filling on top and bake in the oven approx. 10 min.


Note: A basic pizza has a tomato sauce on the dough with added seasoned cooked meat and vegetables, topped with mozzarella cheese and/or parmesan cheese.
