Caramel Syrup

Make your own caramel syrup with this recipe and use it with pancakes, ice creams and in milk shakes.


Ingredients

330 g caster sugar
125 ml water
130 g brown sugar
300 ml cream

Method

Combine caster sugar and water in a small saucepan and bring to the boil on medium heat. Keep boiling uncovered for approx. 10 minutes until sugar mixture is a light golden colour. Remove from the heat and add brown sugar and combine. Add cream slowly while stirring and return to the heat. Cook mixture while stirring until smooth approx. 2 minutes. Pour mixture into glass bottles or jars and allow cooling at room temperature.


Note: Try adding corn syrup or glucose to the mixture before boiling.
