Apple and Blackberry Crumble

This is a variation of the classic apple crumble.



Ingredients serve 6

Crumble ingredients

40 g butter
60 g brown sugar
15 g chopped almonds
90 g wholemeal flour

Method

Preheat oven to 200ยบ C normal bake. Place butter, brown sugar, walnuts and flour in a bowl and mix until it resembles breadcrumbs. Spread mixture on a flat baking tray and bake in the oven until crispy for approx. 9 minutes. Remove from the oven and crumble the mixture.

Apple and Blackberry mixture

200 g blackberry
600 g peeled and cored apples
100 g raw sugar
1 tsp mixed spice

Method

Cut the apples in small 2 cm pieces and place in a bowl. Add blackberry, sugar and mixed spice and blend evenly. Place mixture evenly in 6 ceramic ramekins and fill the dishes with the crumble. Bake in the oven for approx. 20 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.


Note: Add other ingredients to the apple mix such currants, sultanas or dates.
