Ham, Cheese and Tomato Croissant

I have made croissants from scratch since my first visit to France in the 70’s,  it is an amazing breakfast roll freshly baked. This is a quick and easy lunch to assemble using elements that are easily available and it makes an appetizing and light meal.

Ingredients

Croissant
Ham
Cheese sauce
Shredded cheddar cheese
Lettuce
Tomato
Capsicum

Method

Preheat the oven to 200ºC.
Cut croissant in half lengthways.
Lightly spray a tray with cooking oil and place bottom half of croissant onto the tray or on a piece of baking paper.
Place a slice of ham on the bottom half of the croissant, add a few slices of tomato, spread some cheese sauce and sprinkle shredded cheese.
Put the top of the croissant on and add some more cheese sauce sprinkle shredded cheese.
Bake in an oven for approx. 10 min. on 200˚C or toast it under the grill.
Serve on a plate with a freshly made salad.

Note: Cheddar cheese may be substituted by Mozzarella.
To make a salad, use a few leaves of lettuce, slices of tomato, thinly sliced green and red capsicum.
Savoury croissants can be made in advance, covered with food wrap and stored in a fridge ready to heat for a quick and easy snack or meal.
