A chicken dish with many names “Chicken on a throne”, “Beer Can Chicken” or as my brother calls it “Chicken a la can”. This technique produces a tender and juicy chicken on the inside and crispy on the outside. My wife loves any dish with chicken as an ingredient, so every time we are in Denmark my brother “Bruno” makes this chicken on a Weber BBQ with all the gadgets to advise when it is fully cooked .
Ingredients
1 chicken 1500 g
1 tin of beer (375ml)
Pinch of salt
Pinch of pepper
1 tbls olive oil
1 tbls Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp ground thyme leaves
1½ tsp ground sage leaves
Method
Preheat oven to 200ºC.
Wash the can of beer and pour half of it into a glass and clean the chicken.
Put one tsp of thyme and one tsp of sage into the can of beer and place the chicken on the can, transport to a deep baking tray.
Brush the chicken with marinated made of olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, ½ tsp of sage salt and pepper.
Put the chicken on a can into the preheated oven on 200˚C and cook for 50-60 minutes.
Allow the chicken cool for 10 minutes before removing the can.
Serve with mixed salad and crusty bread.
Note: You can use fresh herbs instead of dried. The chicken can also be cooked on a BBQ with a lid, soft drink or ginger beer can be used instead of beer. Any style of marinade may be used to suit your taste.
