Waffles Pops

These waffles are made from a batter leavened with baking powder and are made with a paddle pop stick. Dipped in chocolate and decorated with toasted nuts or sprinkles. They can also be served up as a dessert with ice cream, cream and fresh fruit.

Ingredients make 12

1 cup self raising flour (150g)
1 egg separated
½ cup milk (125g)
⅓ cup water (75g)
45 g melted butter
1 tbls caster sugar

Method

Preheat waffle maker or iron. Place flour, egg yolk, milk, water and butter in a bowl and mix until combined. Whisk the egg white with sugar in a separate bowl and fold into the waffle batter. Pour batter into each waffle plate and place a paddle pop stick in the bottom of the heart. Close the lid down and cook for approx. 2 minutes. Place on a wire and allow cooling before decorating.

Note: Flavoured waffles can be made by substituting half of the milk with freshly pureed fruit such as strawberry.
