Sweet Potato Chips

There is something very extraordinary on the subject of homemade potato chips especially when they are made from a sweet potato. There are many used varieties such as Speckled Purple with a mild nutty flavour, Jewel with deep orange moist flesh, Garnets has orange moist pumpkin-like flesh and Beauregard is just as versatile as Creamsicle, Here I have used Willowleaf.

Jaffle Maker

Is it conceivable we are in the middle of the Jaffle evolution or are they just being rediscovered? It is now possible to get a variety of modern version of the old classic toasted sandwich “the jaffle” in many Australian cafés and restaurants. The classic “jaffle” originated is Australia and South Afrika and is a simple combination of eatable ingredients positioned between two pieces of bread placed in the jaffle iron. After being toasted for a few minutes, a golden closed sandwich is warm and ready to eat. It can only be a jaffle if the edges are sealed and the bread is forming a pocket around the ingredients.

Most people in Australia has a jaffle iron with them going camping and I am told that a baked bean jaffle is the most commonly eaten around campsites. These old fashioned irons are clamped together and placed in the campfire.

It has been possible for years to buy electrical jaffle makers since 1974 to make your own Jaffles at home or in the cafés and restaurants. These machines are available in many electrical stores or online with a price range between 15.00 and 140.00 A$. Here is a picture of my little jaffle maker.
