Punch is the term for an extensive assortment of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks in general containing fruit or fruit juice. The drink was introduced from India to England and is typically served at parties in large bowls with a ladle. These bowls are generally known as punch bowls.
2 x 750 ml chilled pink sparkling wine
1 cup Pimm’s No. 1 (250ml)
2 tsp caster sugar
500 g strawberries
2 limes
Method
Pour sparkling wine, Pimm’s and sugar into a chilled punch bowl. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Wash the strawberries and remove the green caps. Thinly slice the strawberries and the limes, add to the bowl and stir. Serve in tall glasses with ice and a spoon.
Note: Take care when adding the sugar in the sparkling wine, it may froth, add sugar in small quantities if frothing is extensive.
