Guinness bread

This bread recipe is from Guinness storehouse, it is a full of flavor and moist beer bread which gets better the next day. I baked this bread in a big square cake tin since I didn’t have a large bread tin.

Ingredients

600 g wholemeal flour
150 g plain Flour
75 g quick oats
2½ tsp soda
1 tsp sea salt
2½ tsp brown sugar (30g)
40 g butter
500 ml milk
200 ml black treacle
285 ml draught Guinness

Method

Preheat oven to 175ºC normal bake (fan forced 160ºC). Place dry ingredients in a large bowl and blend evenly.
Mix butter into this mixture until the consistency is similar to breadcrumbs. Blend milk, black treacle and the Guinness draught in another bowl. Pour the liquid mix into the dry mixture and combine evenly.  Place mixture in a greased baking tin and bake for approx. 50 minutes. Allow cooling at least 15 minutes before slicing.

Note: If Guinness is not available try a similar draught.
