This is a nice crispy sweet pastry simulating the look of matchsticks.
Puff pastry
Sugar
Vanilla buttercream
Dark chocolate
Method
Preheat oven to 180ÂșC normal bake. Place puff pastry on the kitchen table and cover with white sugar. Make plenty of holes with a fork and turn the dough upside down. Drizzle white sugar on the pastry and make plenty of holes with a fork. Cut the pastry in strips and place on a baking paper covered tray. Bake in the oven for approx. 15 minutes and allow cooling. Place sticks upside down and pipe vanilla buttercream on. Place another stick on top and place them in the fridge for at least 15 minutes. Heat dark chocolate and dip one end of the matchsticks. Place the sticks in the fridge until chocolate is set. Keep matchsticks stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
Note: For variations add fruit flavours to the buttercream such as strawberry, raspberry, blueberry or a mixture.
