This chocolate tart is just the thing to enjoy at anytime of the year, especially if you like chocolate and it is easy to make ahead for your dinner party as a dessert or as a cake for afternoon tea.
Ingredients
225 g dark chocolate
60 g cocoa powder
210 g butter
300 g caster sugar
300 g eggs
500 g shortbread
Method
Preheat oven to 145ºC Fan forced or 160ºC normal bake. Roll shortbread to a thickness of 3 mm and place in a 30 cm round flan base. Place chocolate, cocoa powder and butter in a bowl and melt in Bain Marie while stirring. Whisk eggs and sugar together in another bowl until sugar is thoroughly dissolved without over whisking. Combine the two mixtures and pour into the shortbread lined tart base. Bake in the oven for approx. 40 minutes and allow cooling. Remove the tart from the flan tin and place on a plate. Spread dark chocolate ganaché on top and cut the chocolate tart in 14 slices. Pipe two small rosettes of white ganaché and garnish with a heart shaped chocolate dipped strawberry.
Note: If you prefer a less rich chocolate tart, use milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate.

ReplyDeleteHi Alison, you think the chocolate tart is good, at present there is a baked chocolate brownie cheesecake in the oven, I'll have to walk the beach and the headlands twice a day if I keep sampling all the wares, for brunch today we had baked eggs, that was yummy too, two eggs in a nice bowl, small drop of milk, baked for 12 mins or so, garnished with diced bacon, chives, parsley, capsicum, oh and shredded cheese. Bernie :)
