The Aussie kid Hamburger is a very simple and quick hot sandwich to make, consisting of toasted bun sandwiched with a juicy beef burger, cheese and tomato sauce. The meat is always beef mixed with other ingredient such as sausage mince, tomato sauce, onion and breadcrumbs.
500 g Premium beef mince
1 finely diced onion
2 crushed Weet-Bix
3 tsp grain mustard
¼ cup tomato chutney
1 egg
Salt and pepper
Method
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and divide into 4 large or 6 small pieces. Shape these portions into round discs and place covered in the fridge.
Place 250g Australian Premium Beef Mince, 250 g sausage mince, 4 thinly sliced green shallots, 2 crushed Weet-Bix, 3 tsp English mustard, ¼ cup fruit chutney, 1 egg, salt and pepper in a bowl. Combine ingredients and divide into 6 portions. Shape these portions into round discs and place covered in the fridge.
Note: Other fruit chutneys instead of tomato can be used such as mango, chili or tamarind. Depending on the age of the kids you are catering for, keep the hamburger simple with plenty of tomato sauce available.
