A Moscow Mule is a buck or mule cocktail made with vodka, ginger beer and lime which became popular during the vodka craze in United States in the 50’s. Buck, also known as mule, is a slightly antiquated name for a family of historic mixed drinks that involve ginger ale or ginger beer, citrus juice and base liquor such as vodka, gin or tequila.
This is a wonderful refreshing cocktail particularly on a hot summer or before dinner.
Ingredients
Cracked ice
60 ml vodka
30 ml lime juice
Ginger beer
Lime wedge to decorate
Method
Place approx 6 cracked ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Pour the vodka and lime juice over the ice cubes. Place the lid on top and shake for approx. 30 seconds until well blended. Strain the cocktail in a half filled chilled glass with cracked ice. Top up with ginger beer and place a lime wedge on the rim of the glass. Serve straight away.
Note: Vodka can be substituted with gin, schnapps or tequila.
