Apple and Cheddar Cheese Scones

These are excellent scones with the great combination of cheese and apple.


Ingredients make 15

500 g self raising flour
100 g caster sugar
150 g apple finely chopped or shredded
170 g shredded cheddar cheese
400 ml cultured buttermilk

Method

Preheat oven to 200ºC fan forced (220ºC normal bake). Combine flour and sugar in a large bowl. Place buttermilk, cheese and apple in another bowl and combine. Add liquid mix to dry mix and combine to dough. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and pat the dough into a 3 cm thickness. Cut the scones with a 5cm scone cutter and transfer to a lightly floured tray or baking paper lined tray with space in between. Bake for approx 12 min. until golden brown on top and Dust with icing sugar


Note: Try other cheese such as parmesan and gruyere or a mixture.
