Sherry Trifle

Trifle is a dessert normally made with alternating layers of custard, fruit, sponge cake, fruit juice or jelly and whipped cream. Some trifles contain a small amount of alcohol such as sweet sherry, Madeira or port wine.

Ingredients

Vanilla sponge
Juice + sherry
Tinned peaches
Raspberry Jelly
Custard
Whipped cream rosette
Chocolate curl
Strawberry

Method

Crumble some vanilla sponge and place in the bottom of a wine glass. Open a tin of peaches and sprinkle a little of the juice mixed with sherry over the sponge. Chop the peaches and place on the sponge followed by jelly. Mix the custard with sherry and place on top of the jelly. Pipe a whipped cream rosette and place a strawberry and some dark chocolate curls.

Note: For a version without alcohol use juices or soft drinks which are essential to moisten the sponge.
