Layer Cake Slice

This layered cream cake slice is a classic combination of sponge, jam, custard and cream.

Ingredients

Vanilla sponge sheet
Vanilla custard
Whipped cream
Chocolate shavings
Strawberry jelly
Strawberry jam
Pecan nuts

Method

Cut a sheet of sponge in 4 long strips. Place a strip on a tray and spread a layer of jam. Place another sponge strip on top. Spread some custard in the middle and place another sponge strip on top. Spread a layer of jam and place the last sponge strip on top. Pipe a little whipped cream and cut into slices. Decorate each slice with chocolate, jelly and pecan nuts.

Note: Use blackberry, blueberry or raspberry jelly and jam instead of strawberry.
