The Old Fashioned is a style of cocktail prepared by mixing dissolved sugar with bitters, adding alcohol such as whiskey or brandy and a twist of citrus rind. It is traditionally served in a short, round, one cup glass, which is branded as an Old Fashioned glass.
Ingredients
1 tsp sugar or a sugar cube
Dash of Angustura bitter
2 part Bourbon Whiskey (60ml)
5 cracked ice cubes
Lemon or lime slice
Method
Place sugar, Angustura bitter and water in a small lowball glass and mix until sugar is dissolved. Add whiskey and stir. Add the cracked ice and lemon/lime slice. Serve straight away.
Note: Classic way is a slice of lemon peel twist, however I prefer lime.
