Spicy Christmas Sangria

Sangria is a wonderful punch made with red wine, fresh, seasonal fruit and fizzy water or citrus flavoured soda. Chill the punch and enjoy the Christmas afternoons.


Ingredients serve 6

1 bottle Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Shiraz (750ml)
2 tbls caster sugar (40g)
1 tsp ground mixed spice
1 lemon
1 orange
1 lime
2 cups lemonade (500ml)
30 ml brandy

Method

Pour wine, sugar and mixed spice into a punchbowl, stir until sugar is dissolved. Cut lemon, orange and lime in wedges or half slices and add to the bowl. Cover the bowl and allow cooling in the fridge for at least 4 hours. Blend lemonade and brandy in the bowl. Serve in tall glasses with a straw.


Note: To make it alcohol free use cranberry juice instead of red wine and brandy.
