The modern phenomenon "High Tea" is in C.EX Coffs

Preparations for the launch of this fully booked and much anticipated event have been in the making for months to be held in the newly renovated restaurant “Rendezvous” at C.EX, Vernon Street, Coffs Harbour. A great deal of research has been done and the “High Tea” menu written. It is time for the staff to create magic by producing and organising everything for this occasion. The petite food pieces are to be placed on the three tier platters having being thoroughly tested. At 12 pm Saturday 23rd January 2010 the doors were open for the contemporary phenomenon of “High Tea”.
Located on the 1st floor in the C.EX club, the Rendezvous room has a wonderful ambience with it’s newly refurbish and contemporary design. The remarkable appearance of this 54 seated restaurant with bar and piano is the perfect setting for the experience of “High Tea”.


The savoury plate is complete with a variety of small one bite size portions, frittata, quiche and finger sandwiches. The sandwiches are made using white or wholemeal bread with the crust removed. The varieties of fillings used are chicken, mayonnaise, chives, cucumber, cream cheese, white onion, baby Romano tomato with black cracked pepper, salmon mayonnaise and dill.

Baked frittatas consist of roasted pumpkin, tasty cheddar cheese, cream, eggs, caramelised onion and paprika. The quiches are made with savoury pastry containing pan-fried bacon, onion, cheese, milk, cream, eggs and parsley.

The scone plate displays warm freshly baked scones and lightly whipped cream. The milk scones are made with milk, sugar, salt, butter and self raising flour. Date scones are milk scones and added finely chopped dates. A selection of Beerenberg conserves are available, Strawberry, Orange or Honey.

The sweet plate is occupied with sweet little delicacies. The delightful options are Chocolate Rum Truffle (a dark ganache covered with chocolate), Sarah Bernhard (a macaroon topped with ganache and dipped in dark chocolate), Caramel and almond (an almond cake glazed with caramel fondant), Strawberry macaroon (traditional French macaroon with strawberry Buttercream dipped in chocolate) , Lemon or Cherry tart (shortbread tart filled with homemade Lemon curd or cherry compote).

When the customers arrive to experience "High Tea" at Rendezvous they are greated at the reception by a waitperson,allocated their seats and presented with the menu and a glass of water. The choices are "Classic High Tea" $25pp, which includes the selection of savouries and sweets as mentioned and their choice of one gourmet T2 tea or freshly brewed coffee or "High Tea With a Twist" $35pp (same as Classic High Tea) plus a choice of one tea pot cocktail or a glass of saparkling wine. After the order is placed the tea is served. A short while later the waitperson returns carrying the completed three tiers collection of freshly made edibles directly from the kitchen and places it in the middle of the table serving two people. Now is the time to share and enjoy the experience of Contemporary High Tea.
